About Dustin

Honest, kind, generous, and humble describe Dustin Marshall Huffman. He was pure goodness with a touch of ornery. He had a smile that warmed the hearts of everyone, whether you were a friend or just a passerby. And anyone who needed help knew they could count on Dustin, day or night.

Born August 21, 1991, Dustin attended Real Life Christian Academy for First through Third Grades and Salem Public Schools for the remainder of his school years. He was awarded an honorary diploma by the Salem City Schools Board of Education in June of 2010.  It is clear how much his classmates miss him. Letters and memories posted to the scholarship website, as well as his Facebook Page, attest to the love and devotion they hold for him.

He had integrity and an outstanding work ethic. His discipline and determination helped Salem’s 4X2 team bring home the Gold Medal from OHSAA State Track Championship June 6, 2009, only three weeks before the tragic accident that would take his life. His person and these events in combination would unite the City of Salem as so many would reflect on what is important in life.

Dustin’s families and friends love and miss him dearly. They are working hard to develop the Dustin Huffman Memorial Scholarship into one that will sustain itself in perpetuity; encouraging others to have the same positive attributes as that of Dustin and keeping his memory alive. As Dana Ackerman said in her letter to Dustin dated July 4, 2009, “The world needs more Dustin Huffmans”.
